Stay where you're welcomed first. Don't go shopping for a nicer house. It's a small instruction that carries a big lesson about gratitude and contentment.
Jesus instructs them to remain in the first house (oikian) that receives them until they depart the area, prohibiting house-hopping that could suggest seeking better accommodations or creating social disruption.
Staying in one house demonstrated loyalty, humility, and respect for hosts. It also prevented missionaries from being manipulated by competing social factions within a village.
Jesus provides instructions about hospitality etiquette during the mission.
Jesus commands stability in hospitality arrangements: accept the first welcoming household and stay there. This prevents social climbing and demonstrates contentment with whatever provision God sends.
