Instantly the leprosy disappeared, and the man was completely healed.
Not gradually, not partially—immediately and completely. The disease that had stolen everything from this man was gone in an instant.
Mark records the immediate result of Jesus' healing touch and command.
One moment he was an untouchable outcast; the next, he was whole. That's the speed at which Jesus works when He chooses to move. No disease, no condition, no label can resist His will.
Immediately (euthys) the leprosy departed from him, and the man was cleansed (ekatharisthē), demonstrating the instantaneous and complete efficacy of Jesus' healing word and touch.
The immediate cleansing fulfilled the pattern of Levitical purification in an instant, accomplishing what the priestly system could only verify after the fact (Leviticus 14).

The healing was immediate and total. The disease that had defined this man's identity, isolated him from community, and barred him from worship vanished at Jesus' touch and command.
40Then a leper came to Jesus, begging on his knees: “If You are willing, You can make me clean.”
41Moved with compassion, Jesus reached out His hand and touched the man. “I am willing,” He said. “Be clean!”
42And immediately the leprosy left him, and the man was cleansed.
43Jesus promptly sent him away with a stern warning:
44“See that you don’t tell anyone. But go, show yourself to the priest and present the offering Moses prescribed for your cleansing, as a testimony to them.”
