The angel commissions the women as the first evangelists, instructing them to tell the disciples that the risen Jesus precedes them (proagei hymas) to Galilee, fulfilling Matthew 26:32.

That women were the first commissioned witnesses is historically remarkable in a culture where women's testimony was often discounted, lending authenticity to the account.
