Jesus reveals Himself: 'You have already seen Him. He is the One speaking with you right now.'
Think about the beauty of this: the first face this man ever truly sees after being healed is now revealed to be the face of the Son of God.
Jesus personally reveals His identity to the man, connecting the miracle to His divine nature.
This is the moment everything comes together. The man who received physical sight now receives spiritual sight too. The healer reveals He is the Savior.
Jesus reveals Himself using language that parallels the Samaritan woman encounter (4:26): 'heōrakas auton' (you have seen Him)—doubly significant since the man's ability to see is itself the sign.
The verb 'heōrakas' (you have seen) carries immense irony: the man born blind has now both physically seen Jesus and is about to spiritually 'see' Him. Sight and faith converge in this moment.
Jesus reveals His identity as the Son of Man to the healed man in a direct, personal self-disclosure.
Jesus brings the man's journey to its climax by revealing that the Son of Man he seeks is the very one speaking to him—the one who gave him the eyes now beholding His face.
35When Jesus heard that they had thrown him out, He found the man and said, “Do you believe in the Son of Man ?”
36“Who is He, Sir?” he replied. “Tell me so that I may believe in Him.”
37“You have already seen Him,” Jesus answered. “He is the One speaking with you.”
38“Lord, I believe,” he said. And he worshiped Jesus.
39Then Jesus declared, “For judgment I have come into this world, so that the blind may see and those who see may become blind.”
