'Dwell in the tents of Shem' suggests that Japheth's future will be connected to Shem's line, living alongside them rather than dominating them. The phrase is poetic, painting a picture of future relationships.

Historically, Japheth's descendants (often associated with Indo-European peoples) would indeed spread widely across the earth. But the spiritual center remains with Shem's line.
