Keturah gave Abraham six sons: Zimran, Jokshan, Medan, Midian, Ishbak, and Shuah. These names represent real ancestral lines that would grow into peoples and tribes.
Each of these names wasn't random—they represented actual groups of people in the ancient Near East. When the original listeners heard these names, they recognized them as ancestors of neighboring peoples. This showed that Abraham's influence spread far wider than just through Isaac.
The Genesis narrator, preserving genealogical records
God blessed Abraham with descendants so numerous that they became multiple nations, just as He promised. But notice—these sons are being distinguished from Isaac, and that matters for understanding where God's covenant line goes.
